WeatherExpert, the highest efficiency commercial rooftop line offered by Carrier, has been expanded with six new models ranging in capacity from 75 tons to 150 tons. The line now extends from 3 tons to 150 tons.
The line has an Integrated Energy Efficiency Ratio (IEER) ratings up to 21.0, exceeding the Consortium of Energy Efficiency (CEE) tier II criteria that is used by many utilities for rebates.
Units in the series also meet or exceed all current ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and Energy Star energy requirements, with some models exceeding standards by more than 84%.
Carrier collaborated with customers to design the new additions to the series. These new units are the largest sizes the company has ever offered.
"It's a testament to our design team, who worked closely with our customers, that the WeatherExpert rooftop units won recognition in the Cooling Category for the 2013 AHR Expo Innovation Awards Competition," stated Greg Alcorn, vice president, commercial sales and marketing, Carrier.
Like other models in the line, the 75- to 150-ton units were designed to maintain product familiarity by taking advantage of common parts from existing Carrier rooftop designs.
The units have a double- wall foam panel cabinet design with hinged "man-sized" access panels. Customers can select a standard airfoil supply fan or an optional high static airfoil supply fan as a solution to the static pressure needed for complex building applications and highly featured units. Units are also available in dedicated vertical, horizontal and mixed supply/return airflow configurations for constant volume (CV), staged air volume (SAV) or variable air volume (VAV) applications. Each model has the ComfortLink DDC (direct digital control) communicating control system and hermetic staging scroll compressors on refrigerant circuits controlled via Electronic Expansion Valves (EXV).
The units are available in gas/electric, electric/electric and cooling only applications. All the units use Puron refrigerant (R-410A), providing easy access for routine maintenance.
Heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration solutions OEM Carrier is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
