The board of Hunter Fan Company appointed John Alexander (pictured) to be Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He replaced Chuck Smith, who will transition to a senior advisory role for the board.
Alexander spent most of his career at Whirlpool Corp., where his positions included Vice President and General Manager of the corporation's $3 billion Whirlpool brand. He is credited with growing market share through customer loyalty programs, new products, and working closely with key customers. He also served as the corporation's Vice President of New Business Development and Innovation, leading new high-growth, high profit businesses like Gladiator, Commercial Laundry, and Whirlpool's licensing business.
Alexander recently was President of the America's for Diversey, Inc., a $3 billion global provider of cleaning and hygiene products. In three years at Diversey, John introduced new products, expanded international distribution, and led his organization to sustained annual profitable growth.
Alexander has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio Northern University and an MBA from the Ohio State University.
The board expressed its appreciation to Chuck Smith, who served Hunter for 14 years, 6 of those as CEO. Rob Sharp, Managing Director of Hunter's parent, MidOcean Partners, said, of Smith, "His leadership was instrumental in growing the company."
"My transition will ensure a seamless handoff, and allow me to pursue other interests after a successful tenure with Hunter.," Smith said.
Hunter said it has just finished its third consecutive year of increased revenue and market share, driven by strong growth in the core ceiling fan business.
