Appliance Store Sales Up in January Feb 26, 2013

Electronics and Appliance Store sales in January 2013 were estimated at $8.365 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's advance, seasonally adjusted data. January was up from December 2012's $8.349 billion and up from January 2012's $8.224 billion.

Advance, non-seasonally adjusted estimates from the Census Bureau put Electronics and Appliance Store sales in January 2013 at $7.737 billion, up 2.7% from January 2012's seasonally adjusted figure.

Sales of U.S. retail and food services overall in January 2013 were $416.6 billion, up 0.1% from December 2012 and up 4.4% from January 2012, according to the Census Bureau's advance, seasonally adjusted data. Retail trade sales were up 0.1% from December 2012 and up 4.1% from January 2012. Nonstore retailers were up 15.7% from January 2012.
