Hispanic Consumers Are Ready to Spend in 2013 Feb 22, 2013

A new report shows that Hispanics in the United States are generally optimistic about the future, and are planning to buy an increased number of appliances in 2013, among other products.

A new ThinkNow Research Hispanic Omnibus survey found that 51.0% of all respondents expected their personal finances would improve in 2013 compared to 2013. Only 9.2% expect their personal finances will be worse this year. This optimism was evenly split between male and female Hispanics.

Young Hispanic adults, ages 18-34, were the most optimistic -- 61% of respondents in this age group expect improvement. Older Hispanics, age 55 and older, were the most pessimistic, with 19.7% fear their situation would worsen.

The survey also asked respondents about their big-ticket purchases in 2012 and the purchases they plan to make in 2013. The results showed that Americas fastest growing population segment is planning on buying more big ticket items this year than they did last year.

Large kitchen appliances: 13.4% of respondents said they purchased a major kitchen appliance in 2012, with 22.0% planning to buy one in 2013.

Hispanics overall are also planning to buy more homes, electronics, and vehicles in 2013.
