Takashi Sonoda, a 30-year veteran of Rinnai, was named president of Rinnai America Corp.
Sonoda previously managed a 400-person staff at the company's Brazil facility and most recently served as president of Rinnai R. B. Controls Co., Ltd., in Japan.
"Takashi brings a unique perspective. His extensive global industry background, strong management skills, and logistics and sales experience are valuable additions to the Rinnai America team," said Yuzo Yoshida, general manager of overseas business headquarters at Rinnai.
Rinnai America is also growing its advisory committee. Phil Weeks, previously the COO of Rinnai America, recently transitioned to the Rinnai America Advisory Council to help support the expansion of the company's North American operations.
"As we begin 2013, we are extremely optimistic about the future. With the guidance of Takashi and Phil, we have the right leadership in place to ensure a successful future," added Yoshida.
Rinnai America is a subsidiary of Rinnai Corp., based in Nagoya, Japan. Rinnai Corp. makes gas appliances, including tankless water heaters, kitchen appliances, and heating and air-conditioning units. Rinnai said it is the largest gas appliance maker in Japan and the top-selling brand of tankless gas water heaters in North America. Corporate revenues, subsidiaries, of $2.5 billion.
