U.S. production of major plastic resins was 6.4 billion pounds during in October 2012, up 7.9% from October 2011, according to the American Chemistry Council. Year-to-date production was 63.2 billion pounds, up 1.7% from the first 10 months of 2011.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins were 6.3 billion pounds in October 2012, up 3.6% from October 2011. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 63.0 billion pounds, up 2.0% from the first 10 months of 2011.
