Spectrum Brands Reports Record Net Sales Oct 25, 2012

Small appliance maker Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. (Madison, WI, U.S.) reported net income of $48.6 million in its fiscal year 2012, which ended Sept. 30, 2012. In fiscal 2011 Spectrum Brands reported a net loss of $75.2 million.

The preliminary, unaudited results from the company included record net sales of $3.25 billion in fiscal 2012, up 2.1% from $3.19 billion in fiscal 2011. Excluding currency effects net sales were up 4.3% versus prior year.

Spectrum Brands' Global Batteries & Appliances segment had net sales of $2.25 billion in fiscal 2012, essentially unchanged from fiscal 2011. Excluding currency effects sales were up 2.7%. Adjusted EBITDA of $307.7 million was up slightly from $306.9 million in 2011.

Spectrum Brands' appliance brands include Remington, George Foreman, Black & Decker, and Toastmaster.
