Philips reported third-quarter 2012 comparable sales growth of 5%, to EUR 6.1 billion, and earnings (EBITA) of EUR 450 million. Net income was EUR 170 million.

Philips' three business sectors are Consumer Lifestyle (including home appliances), Healthcare and Lighting. All three reported growth in the quarter. Comparable sales in its "growth geographies" were up 10% and these markets now account for 36% of Philips' total revenue

In Philips' Consumer Lifestyle business sector comparable sales were up 3%, with double-digit growth in the combined growth businesses, which are Domestic Appliances, Personal Care, and Health & Wellness. Sales increases were partly offset by a decline at Lifestyle Entertainment.

In Philips' Healthcare business sector comparable sales grew by 7%, led by double-digit growth at Imaging Systems and high single-digit growth at Home Healthcare Solutions. In growth geographies, comparable sales increased by 14%. Currency-comparable order intake increased 6% year-on-year.

In Philips' Lighting business sector comparable sales were up 4%. LED-based sales grew 51% and now account for 24% of total Lighting sales.
