Royal Philips Electronics was named to the status of supersector leader in the Personal and Household Goods category of the 2012 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). It is Philips' second year in a row as supersector leader, and Philips said the status comes as a result from its commitment to sustainability as an integral part of the company's health and well-being strategy.

Philips' said its investments in innovation, efficiency, and transparency within the supply chain and its focus on positive customer experiences consistently put sustainability at the core of business practices across the company. This has translated into notable DJSI ranking recognition on such aspects as climate strategy, environmental reporting, and social indicators such as its human capital development. Most notably, Philips received 99 out of 100 possible points in the new "Supply Chain Management" category.

The company's EcoVision program focuses on three sustainability targets for 2015 in the areas of care, energy efficiency, and recycling:
* Bring care to more than 500 million people. The target is to see 500 million lives touched by 2015, in a program driven by Philips Healthcare.
* Improve energy efficiency of Philips products. The target is a 50% improvement by 2015, for the average total product portfolio, compared to 2009.
* Close the material loop. The target is to double global collection, recycling amounts, and recycled materials in products by 2015 compared to 2009.
