Appliance Manufacturing Grows in July Aug 3, 2012

The Electrical Equipment, Appliances & Components industry was one of seven manufacturing industry segments that reported growth in July 2012, according to the most recent Manufacturing ISM Report On Business.

Economic activity in the overall United States manufacturing sector contracted in July - only the second time it has shown contraction since July 2009, according to the most recent Manufacturing ISM Report On Business. The overall economy grew for the 38th consecutive month, he report said.

Of the 18 manufacturing industries tracked by the report, seven reported growth in July 2012:

* Plastics & Rubber Products
* Electrical Equipment, Appliances & Components
* Primary Metals
* Petroleum & Coal Products
* Fabricated Metal Products
* Food, Beverage & Tobacco Products
* Furniture & Related Products

11 industries reported contraction in July:
* Nonmetallic Mineral Products
* Apparel, Leather & Allied Products
* Wood Products
* Textile Mills
* Miscellaneous Manufacturing
* Chemical Products
* Transportation Equipment
* Printing & Related Support Activities
* Paper Products
* Machinery
* Computer & Electronic Products
