Resin Production Down in May Aug 2, 2012

U.S. production of major plastic resins were 6.0 billion pounds during May 2012, down 4.7% from May 2011, according to the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 31.2 billion pounds, a 0.2% increase from the same period in 2011.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins were 6.1 billion pounds in May 2012, an increase of 5.3% from May 2011. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 30.5 billion pounds, down 0.9% from the same period in 2011.
