The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers Canada named Steve Caldow, Senior Product Manager with Miele Ltd. in Vaughan, ON, as chairman of AHAM's Canada Council. The Council is AHAM Canada's membership body that oversees association work in Canada. Caldow will also serve as a voting member of the AHAM board of directors.
"Canadian manufacturers and marketers are very pleased to see that AHAM Canada is now operational and building a strong staff organization. I have a lot of confidence in AHAM Canada and am excited to be a part of the organization," stated Caldow.
AHAM Canada also hired Bruce Rebel as Director of Technical Services. Rebel has more than 15 years of regulatory and quality assurance experience in Canada, most recently as associate director of Regulatory Affairs at Bell. He will manage all technical and standards related activities in Canada.
AHAM Canada is located in Ottawa, ON.
"With Steve Caldow leading the AHAM Canada Council and Bruce Rebel leading our technical efforts, AHAM Canada is off to a great start in representing the appliance manufacturing sector in Canada," said AHAM President Joe McGuire. "AHAM looks forward to representing the appliance industry in Canada and the U.S. on issues unique to each country and on important cross border issues as well."
AHAM Canada was launched in May 2012 to represents the industry before the federal and provincial governments. It will work with technical bodies impacting the home appliance industry and will provide a market statistics program for Canada.
