Outdoor power equipment maker Stihl, Inc., plan to install seven roof-mounted wind turbines for power generation at its manufacturing campus in Virginia Beach, VA. Stihl's permit application to the city indicates the wind energy conversion system (WECS) turbines will be used to generate supplemental electricity to power its raw materials warehouse and guide-bar manufacturing plant.

Stihl already has two similar turbines operating on the rooftop of another Virginia Beach building.

The new turbines have been approved by the city planning commission and is expected to be approved by the city council.
