Hitachi Brings Large-Scale Fridge to Middle East with UAE Launch May 8, 2012

Hitachi, through local distributor Eros Group, launched its Ultra Big2 Refrigerator in the UAE this week as a precursor to launches throughout the Gulf region, according to the Khaleej Times.

The line is designed to offer more interior space and a high degree of efficiency, using a radiant cold panel in the fresh food compartment and a cold convection system to keep temperatures consistent in the frozen food compartment.

Article author Abdul Basit said the new units will retail in the UAE from Dh 2,999 to Dh 4,999 (approx US$815 to $1360). Eros Group CEO Deepak Babani claimed the company had 13% refrigerator market share and said the total in-country market was 250,000 refrigerators in 2011.
