The Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute in April filed its comments on the Department of Energy's preliminary technical support document - part of rulemaking on energy standards for commercial ice-makers.
AHRI comments pointed out what it saw as problems with the engineering analysis, and particularly with the "cost-efficiency" curves. AHRI said these were derived based on incorrect assumptions and cost figures.
AHRI also offered to work with DOE and with its contractor to improve the analysis.
