Dow Solar announced expanded availability of its Powerhouse Solar Shingle to homeowners in northern California and in the San Antonio and Austin central Texas area.
The solar shingle technology combines a roofing shingle with a solar cell, and is installed by a roofer along with standard asphalt roofing materials. Once the installation on the roof is complete, a certified electrician connects the system to the inverter. It is designed to provide a solution for homeowners looking for residential solar power that is easy to install and aesthetically pleasing.
Five authorized dealers were added in the new markets. Dow identified Texas as one of fastest growing solar markets and said California has long been the nation's leading solar installation market, with more than 1.5 GW of installed solar capacity and home to more than 3,500 active solar firms that employ thousands of people.
