Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute President and CEO Stephen Yurek and Research Manager Xudong Wang were participants in last week's Ozone2Climate Industry Roundtable. The AHRI representatives attended the event at the invitation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The roundtable event was sponsored by UNEP's OzonAction Program along with the China Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Industry Association (CRAA). The event was held in conjunction with the China Refrigeration and Heating Exhibition.
AHRI's Yurek spoke about the future of refrigerants, taking into account that HCFCs are being phased out in developing nations and that HFCs are being increasingly regulated.
AHRI's Wang described several of the association's refrigerant research programs, which are conducted by the association research arm, the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology Institute. These research programs include the:
* Low-GWP Alternative Refrigerants Evaluation Program (Low-GWP AREP)
* Materials Compatibility and Lubricants Research (MCLR) for Low GWP Alternative Refrigerants
* Risk Assessment of Residential Heat Pump Systems Using A2L Low GWP Refrigerants
* Life Cycle Climate Performance (LCCP) model
