Japan Will Subsidize Home Energy Management Devices

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) selected home energy management system (HEMS) devices to be subsidized as part of a program to promote HEMS.

Six businesses and 11 products were selected. METI will continue to select additional devices to be subsidized based on requests from businesses. The total budget for the program is 3 billion yen or about $37 million U.S. METI will subsidize devices with a costs up to 100,000 yen (approx. $1,235).
