iRobot Expands International & U.S. Floor Care Robot Line Mar 19, 2012

iRobot Corp. expanded its line of Scooba Floor Washing Robots with the compact Scooba 230 for EMEA markets (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and for Latin America. The company will also refresh its Scooba 300 series worldwide.

"The international expansion of Scooba is evidence of the growing demand for iRobot's home robots," said Marc Dinee, general manager of iRobot's Home Robots business unit. "As a worldwide leader in automated home maintenance and floor care, iRobot continues to design and build new robots for the global market."

A new 390 model includes the most advanced features of the Scooba 300 series, with Extended Power Life Management intended to provide 30% longer battery life. The unit uses a four-stage cleaning process to prep, wash, scrub, and squeegee the floor. It covers up to 450 square feet per cleaning. It is already for sale in the United States.

The 230 model was developed to clean tight, hard-to-reach spaces in bathrooms and kitchens, including around the toilet and under cabinets. The unit is just 3.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches in diameter. An active-reservoir design keeps the cleaning solution and dirty water separate. It provides a three-stage cleaning process to washes, scrub, and squeegee the floor. It covers up to 150 square feet per cleaning. The unit will be offered at retailers in EMEA and Latin America in April 2012 and in the United Kingdom in the summer of 2012.
