1500 Workers Could Join Electrolux Lawsuit Mar 13, 2012

The Associated Press reported that about a thousand former employees at Electrolux's Webster City, Iowa plant have expressed their interest in joining a class-action lawsuit against the appliance producer, with as many as 1500 expected to join the legal action eventually. The U.S. district judge handling the case has ordered Electrolux to provide the names and contact information of hourly workers in Webster city from December 2008 through December 2011, according to AP.

The suit is seeking back pay for employees at the laundry appliances plant, which closed last year. The suit claims workers were required to be on the job fifteen minutes prior to their shift start, without pay, for the purpose of donning protective gear such as arm guards and safety gloves.

Washer production was moved from Webster City to Juarez, Mexico in the first quarter of 2011.
