The Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology Institute (AHRTI) completed its 18-month research project, Life Cycle Climate Performance (LCCP) Model for Residential Heat Pump Systems.
A tool was developed to calculate LCCP for residential heat pumps, using Microsoft Excel. The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) reports that the LCCP model includes the direct impact of:
• refrigerant emissions
• energy consumption during operation
• energy to manufacture and safely dispose of the system and refrigerant
AHRI said that, with correct input, the Excel tool handles different heat pumps, refrigerants, locations, and CO2 emission profiles. The tool is available online the AHRI website:
