LG Electronics will exhibit its next generation of smart appliances at the Consumer Electronics Show next week in Las Vegas, including upgraded Smart ThinQ appliance energy management technology, the Home Energy Management System (HeMS) home networking system (pictured), and device-to-device connectivity across home appliances, Smart TVs, smartphones, and PCs.

LG's exhibit at CES in Las Vegas - Jan. 10-13, 2012 – will also feature:
• A new Blast Chiller-equipped French-door refrigerator, which earned the CES 2012 Best of Innovations award. The Blast Chiller is a quick-chilling compartment for drinks, capable of cooling a 12-ounce can of beer or soda in less than five minutes.
• A fast clothes washer that was also honored with a 2012 CES Innovations Award.
• A smart oven.
• The HOM-BOT robotic vacuum cleaner, with a Dual Eye Mapping feature and smart navigation to allow for more precise cleaning. The appliance is just 3.5 inches and has a noise level of only 50dB.

“We first previewed our smart appliances at CES a year ago, and the line-up has evolved considerably since then,” said Moon-bum Shin, Executive Vice President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “LG has not only upgraded individual technologies for each product, but has also greatly enhanced connectivity throughout the home. By creating new possibilities for chore management, such as allowing consumers to monitor washing machines through their TVs or smartphones, LG is enabling homeowners to rethink the concept of household chores.”

Smart Fridge Functions
Smart ThinQ offers customized and flexible ways to control energy use. It is based around a Smart Manager, with its complete food management system, allowing homeowners to use the refrigerator LCD panel or their smartphones to check what food is inside, where it’s located, and when it will expire.

Smart Diagnosis enables the quick and convenient diagnosis or troubleshooting of the appliance via smart devices.

Smart Access lets consumers access and monitor the operational status of appliances through smart devices.

Smart Adapt lets users download new programs, so they can get the latest software developments without buying a new appliance.

The appliances are also designed to be Smart Grid-ready, meaning that once local utility companies begin offering Smart Grid-compatible, differentiated energy-rate time slots, consumers can re-adjust their function settings to take advantage of optimum energy rates every day.

Home Energy Management
The Home Energy Management System (HeMS) home networking system gives users access to the energy usage data of the smart appliances in the home via smartphone or PC. Customers can monitor their energy usage and energy costs by the hour, day, month, or year.
