October U.S. manufacturing technology orders were $463.32 million, down 22.4% from September 2011 but up 20.3% from October 2010's $385.21 million, according to trade associations AMT and AMTDA. The year-to-date total for 2011 was $4,529.11 million, up 80.5% from the same period in 2010.

"Manufacturing technology orders through October have already surpassed the total value accumulated in 2007," said AMT President Douglas Woods. "The beginning of 2012 will be a little slow as tax incentives pulled some orders back into 2011, which will likely make 2012 growth softer."
