U.S. production of major plastic resins was 6.2 billion pounds in September 2011, down 3.5% from September 2010, according to statistics from the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 56.9 billion pounds, a 0.01% increase compared to the same period in 2010.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins was 6.1 billion pounds in September 2011, down 2.4% from September 2010. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 56.3 billion pounds, a 0.06% decrease from the same period in 2010.
