Neato Robotics' XV-12 all-floor vacuum cleaner will be the "robotic vacuum cleaner of choice" for retail chain Target. The robotic vacuum will be available at 1,750 Target retail stores by Oct. 16, 2011, as part of the retailer's national product refresh leading up to the holiday shopping season.
The robotic vacuum cleaner is designed to automatically clean home floors and carpets on a daily basis. The appliance is designed to pick up dirt, debris, and pet hair and has a brush specially designed to avoid tangling. It has an automatic daily cleaning function to reduce contaminants that can cause allergies and asthma.

• smart path planning and a back-and-forth pattern to ensure full floor coverage
• scuff-free navigation uses technology that constantly updates the unit's internal map and enables it to detect and clean around objects more than 4 inches in height
• low profile design, at under 4 inches in height, lets it clean under beds, sofas, and kitchen kick boards
The D-shape of the appliance enables equipping it with a forward-positioned wide brush, which the company said makes it better able to clean corners and edges of a room than circular-shaped robots with short, centrally-positioned brushes. The design also leaves room for a larger dirt bin of 660 cc or 0.69 quarts.
The unit self-docks to re-power after its daily cleaning. A user interface allows users to schedule when the unit cleans.
The suggested retail price is $399.99.
