Composite leading indicators (CLIs) for July 2011, released in mid-September 2011, continue to indicate a slowdown in most OECD countries and major non-member economies. The CLI for the OECD area as a whole fell 0.5 point in July. It was the fourth consecutive month of decline.

Compared to the previous month’s assessment, the CLIs showed increasing evidence of an economic slowdown in:
• Canada
• France
• Germany
• Italy
• the United Kingdom
• Brazil
• China
• India

The CLIs for the United States and Russia were also more clearly indicating a slowdown in economic activity than the previous month’s CLI report.

OECD said the outlook for Japan continues to indicate a turning-point in economic activity.

OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) composite leading indicators (CLIs) are designed to anticipate turning points in economic activity.

OECD currently has 34 member countries:
• Australia
• Austria
• Belgium
• Canada
• Chile
• Czech Republic
• Denmark
• Estonia
• Finland
• France
• Germany
• Greece
• Hungary
• Iceland
• Ireland
• Israel
• Italy
• Japan
• Korea
• Luxembourg
• Mexico
• Netherlands
• New Zealand
• Norway
• Poland
• Portugal
• Slovak Republic
• Slovenia
• Spain
• Sweden
• Switzerland
• Turkey
• United Kingdom
• United States
