Panasonic/Sanyo Green Energy Park Gets Green IT Award Oct 5, 2011

The Panasonic/Sanyo Electric Kasai Green Energy Park (GEP) in Japan, a next-generation, environmentally friendly facility, received the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) Minister's Award in the “Energy-saving by IT” category. It is the highest award level in this category of the Green IT Awards 2011, and recognizes the site's wide variety of technologies aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.

The Kasai GEP takes a multifaceted approach to reducing CO2 emissions, including the use of solar modules for energy creation, large-scale storage battery systems for energy storage, and the visualization of energy usage at the facility implemented through IT. The facility also serves as an example of methods for combining energy creation and energy storage systems in the future.
