Kenmore Appliances Could Be Sold Outside Sears Stores Sep 15, 2011

The Kenmore appliance brand may soon be in stores that are not part of Sears Holdings, which owns the brand. A LinkedIn job posting for a "Chief Marketing Officer – Kenmore" suggests that the responsibilities of the new position will include driving Kenmore sales both within and outside Sears stores.

The job was posted in early September and has since been removed. The posting said the position included working with "external groups (Sears tools and lawn and garden retail, ACE, Orchard Supply, Costco, etc.) to efficiently and effectively drive Kenmore awareness, consideration and purchase."

Sears has recently taken a similar approach with two of its other well-known brands, Craftsman and Diehard. Ace Hardware stores and Costco are now selling some Craftsman brand outdoor power equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Sears-owned retail chains Orchard Supply Hardware and Kmart also sell the brand.

Schumacher Electric acquired the rights to use the DieHard brand name on car jump starter cables, chargers, and jump starters, but not on batteries.
