Several media sources reported that appliance maker Electrolux will shutter its Midwestern U.S. distribution plant in Plainfield, IN, and open a new regional distribution center in Minooka, IL, 50 miles southwest of Chicago. Reports say the site was chosen for its proximity to transportation arteries, including rail. Nearby Interstate 80 provides easy access to several major interstate highways.
The 500,000-sq-ft Minooka facility will include a showroom for Electrolux appliances and will distribute to 15 states in the Midwest, reports said. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in October 2011.
