TÜV SÜD America Inc., a global testing, inspection and certification services firm, named Ian Nicol to be its President and CEO for Americas operations, including TÜV SÜD Canada, TÜV SÜD América de México, and TÜV SÜD America do Brasil.
"(Nicol) brings a solid management and business background to lead TÜV SÜD America in its continued course of development and growth," said Karsten Xander, Member of the Board of Management
Originally from Motherwell, Scotland, Mr. Nicol served in numerous senior management roles in certification, inspection, and testing industries worldwide. Following time in the UK as managing director of MTS Humberside, Ian moved to the UAE in 1993 to successfully establish business in the Middle East for Bodycote Materials Testing, a supplier of thermal processing services.
In 1997, Ian was appointed president of Bodycote Materials Testing North America, relocating to Houston, TX. In 2007, Ian was appointed president and CEO of Bodycote Testing Inc. and helped guide the business through a successful sale process, with the business being sold to private equity at the end of 2008. In 2010, he joined SGS Industrial Services NAM as senior vice president before joining TÜV SÜD America.
