U.S. production of major plastic resins were 6.6 billion pounds in July 2011, up 2.0% compared to July 2010, according to statistics released by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 44.4 billion pounds, a 1.0% increase compared to the same period in 2010.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 6.4 billion pounds in July 2011, down 3.4% from July 2010. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 43.6 billion pounds, a 0.6% increase compared to the same period in 2010.
