Bluetooth wireless technology – a standard enabling short-range wireless communication between a large variety of devices – is expected to be in 2 billion devices by 2013, according to In-Stat. Bluetooth is growing thanks to its small-form factor radio, low power use, low cost, built-in security, robustness, ease-of-use, and ad-hoc networking abilities, the research firm said.
“Bluetooth continues to gain design wins over a wide range of applications, with Bluetooth device shipments increasing by 23% between 2009 and 2010,” said Brian O’Rourke, In-Stat research director. “
