U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 6.3 billion pounds in May 2011, down 1.5% compared to May 2011, according to the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 31.5 billion pounds, a 1.0% increase compared to the same period in 2010.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 5.9 billion pounds in May 2011, down 2.6% from May 2010. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 31.1 billion pounds, up 2.8% compared to the same period in 2010.
