Microsoft Corp. launched Microsoft Office 365, a cloud-based service offering its Microsoft Office online tools as well as online versions of SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync.

In beta testing the software company estimated businesses using the service cut IT costs by as much as 50%. The service offers instant messaging, virtual meetings, and can work on files and documents simultaneously, using almost any device.
