Chinese appliance producer intends to embrace a new corporate strategy focused on smart technology, and said this focus will be exemplified in a new smart-technology product platform allowing entertainment content to be integrated with social media sites.

Hisense Chairman Zhou Houjian, speaking at a media event in Beijing, provided few details about the new product platform, but he did say that a Hisense task force was established to promote the new company direction.

Key to the new corporate direction will be the strengthening of the company's unique smart multimedia operating platform and "Smart Store." Hisense plans to put a smart technology focus into all its operations, including home appliances, media, communications, smart transportation, real estate, and other fields.

Zhou Houjian said Hisense has been the leader in China's flat-screen TV market for eight years and has a solid lead in the smart-technology transportation and home cable module sectors. He said these strengths will be key to the company's smart-technology efforts and to its new product platform.

"Hisense aims to bring television everywhere, striving to bring the huge youth demographic back in front of the TV set," Zhou Houjian said. "Through these efforts, the company will provide consumers with a new way of imagining life in the future, and a whole new way of looking at Hisense."
