GM Nameplate/Northern Engraving Joint Venture in China May 5, 2011

Appliance industry suppliers GM Nameplate and Northern Engraving formed a joint venture in China to manufacture nameplates, overlays, dials, and decorative trim. The joint venture is intended to enhances both companies’ ability to supply decorative products to customers using a China based supply chain.

The venture combines the facilities and infrastructure GM Nameplate has in China with technical and manufacturing capabilities from Northern Engraving. Limited production is available now with full production capabilities scheduled for the Fall of 2011. The companies will continue to be competitors in the United States, where both have manufacturing operations.

GM Nameplate specializes in design and manufacture of branding components including nameplates, decals, labels and custom panels; electronic input devices such as membrane switches, rubber keypads and touch screens; decorated and molded plastic components; value added assemblies; and large format digital graphics.

Northern Engraving designs and manufactures product identification, including nameplates, labels, badges and emblems; gauges and dials for the marine, motorcycle and automotive industries; decorative trim such as panels, touch controls and consoles for the automotive, appliance and consumer electronics industries; and overlays and buttons.
