U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 5.6 billion pounds in February 2011, down 4.6% compared to February 2010, according to statistics from the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 12.0 billion pounds, a 0.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2010.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 5.8 billion pounds in February 2011, an increase of 0.8% from February 2010. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 11.8 billion pounds, a 1.8% decrease compared to the same period in 2010.
