Dow Polyurethanes and Chinese appliance OEM Haier unveiled a new Dow-patented rigid polyurethane insulation technology for household refrigerators and freezers at the World Appliance Expo in Shanghai on March 16, 2011.
Dow said its Pascal technology combined polyurethane insulation and efficient appliance case filling to addresses the productivity needs of appliance manufacturers and the energy efficiency demands of consumers. Dow launched the technology to meet government energy efficiency mandates “for the next 25 years.” Further technical details have yet to be released.
Dow will launch the technology commercially in the coming months.
