Electrolux Philippines won the Philippines Association of National Advertisers Truth in Advertising Awards (PANATA Awards) for the second year running.
The word "panata” is Filipino for vow, promise, or oath. The PANATA Awards annually recognize outstanding work to promote positive Filipino values like love of family, respect of elders, philanthropy, and generosity.
Electrolux Philippines was recognized specifically for its event “A Thousand Kilos for Heavy Loads & Lighter Hearts” held in August 2011. Electrolux transformed a parking lot in the city of Cebu, Philippines, into a giant washhouse. Donations of clothing from Cebu celebrities, media personalities, and residents were collected for the charity event’s beneficiary, Tabang Patrol.
Ten pairs of Electrolux washers and dryers were set up along with an ironing station during the event. ABS-CBN celebrities made appearances to show their support by washing and ironing the donated clothes.
It was the second time Electrolux has organized the event. The 2011 event washed, dried, and donated 5,000 kilos of clothing.
