Canadian ductless split systems shipments showed the highest product sector gain in 4th quarter 2010, increasing by 94%, according to data released today by the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI).
Ductless split systems shipments increased by 94% from 3,627 in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 7,052 in the third quarter of 2010. Full-year shipments increased 72% from 34,677 in 2009 to 59,525 in 2010.
Commercial air-conditioning shipments were up 17%, from 9,557 in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 11,170 in the fourth quarter of 2010. Full-year shipments increased 13%, from 34,434 in 2009 to 38,777 in 2010.
Residential air-conditioning shipments decreased 26%, from 32,766 in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 24,212 in the fourth quarter of 2010. Full-year shipments increased 16%, from 193,483 in 2009 to 224,362 in 2010.
Residential furnace shipments decreased 33%, from 136,978 in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 91,781 in the fourth quarter of 2010. Full-year shipments decreased 9% from 347,694 in 2009 to 315,330 in 2010.
Unit heater shipments decreased by 5% from 18,324 in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 17,435 in the fourth quarter of 2010. Full-year shipments increased 6% from 42,763 in 2009 to 45,467 in 2010.
Chiller bookings increased 48% from 219 in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 325 in the fourth quarter 2010. Full-year shipments increased 49% from 723 in 2009 to 1076 in 2010.
