GE, Fuji Electric JV Will Make Smart Grid Meters for Japan Feb 9, 2011

GE and Fuji Electric Holdings Co., Ltd. formed a joint venture to design, manufacture, and market a new generation of electric meters to support Japan’s advancing smart grid infrastructure. The venture formed on Feb. 1, 2011, is named GE Fuji Meter Co. Ltd., and will make use of GE’s smart meter technology and Fuji Electric’s Japan-based manufacturing and sales network. GE Energy’s Daniel T. Nakano will serve as president and representative director, COO.
