Appliance OEMs National Presto, iRobot, Middleby, and AAON are on Forbes magazine's list of the Best Small Companies in America.

The highest-ranking appliance industry name on the Forbes list of 100 companies is National Presto Industries, at No. 7. National Presto's Housewares/Small Appliance business designs and sells appliances under the Presto brand name. The company also operates a Defense business making munitions and an Absorbent Products segment making private label adult incontinence products.

No. 16 on the list is iRobot Corp., maker of home robotic appliances and military appliances. iRobot was chosen for its significant sales and earnings growth in a challenging economic environment.

No. 68 on the list is The Middleby Corporation, which sells commercial appliances and foodservice equipment worldwide under more than two dozen brand names.

No. 77 on the list is AAON, Inc., maker of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) products.

To qualify for the Best Small Companies in America list candidates must be publicly traded for at least one year, generate annual revenue between $5 million and $1 billion, and have a stock price no lower than $5 per share. The rankings are based on earnings growth, sales growth, and return on equity in the past 12 months and over five years. Each company's stock performance compared with that of its peers was also factored in to compile the rankings.
