Sony Reports 2Q Net Profit of $375 Million Nov 5, 2010

Sony Corp. reported consolidated operating income of 68.7 billion yen (approx. US$827 million) for its second quarter ended Sept. 30, 2010, which led the company to upwardly revise its forecasted operating income for the fiscal year. Sony reported an operating loss of 32.6 billion yen in the same period in 2009. Net income was 31.1 billion yen (approx. $375 million) compared to a net loss of 26.3 billion yen in the same quarter last year.

Sony said its Networked Products & Services business, which includes games and PCs, contributed significantly to the improved results.
