Haier Gets Aggressive In Japan Sep 17, 2010

Haier Group, China's largest white goods producer, will get more aggressive in its marketing in Japan, according to a Daily Yomiuri report.

Haier hired 20 veterans of Japanese appliance companies to help design a number of appliances specifically for the Japanese market, the report said. It will set prices on refrigerators, washers, and other appliances, Daily Yomiuri reported, at about 20% less than Japanese competitors' prices.

The report said Haier hasn't tried to aggressively compete in the Japanese appliance market, with its strong Japanese appliance brands. Haier now appears poised with a number of products engineered to meet the tastes of Japanese consumers, but at a significantly lower price point.
