A third generation model has been released of a unique type of outdoor power equipment, the Greensteam Weed Eliminator, which kills weeds without pesticides. Producer M.K. Rittenhouse & Sons Ltd. designed the landscape contractor unit to operate on a 12 volt vehicle battery and propane. The steam gun uses patented technology to efficiently burn the propane within a chamber that is surrounded with a water-filled coil, where it is pressurized by a 12 volt pump. As the water converts to steam it exits through nozzles at the bottom gun. The steam instantly kills the weed down to its roots.
