On July 28, Helen of Troy was ranked by Smarttrend as having the highest gross margin in the household appliance industry. Chip Brian, author of the article, explained that gross margin tells a company how much of its sales are profit; better efficiency equals more profits.
Helen of Troy (small personal care appliances) results had a gross margin of 45.2%.
iRobot (household robots such as the Roomba vacuum, as well as military robots) had a gross margin of 34.5%.
The Stanley Works had a gross margin of 32.5%.
Deer Consumer Products had a gross margin of 28.8%
Whirlpool had a gross margin of 16.8%.
