iRobot Corp., maker of home appliance robots and military robots, reported record revenue and earnings for its second quarter ended July 3, 2010.
Revenue for the second quarter of 2010 increased 59% to $98 million, compared to $61 million for the same quarter in 2009. Revenue for the first half of 2010 increased 63% to $193 million, compared to 2009's $118 million.
International home robot revenue in Q2 2010 was up more than 80% year-over-year to $36 million and comprised 67% of total home robot revenue for the quarter. Domestic U.S. home robot revenue increased 20% to $17 million from $14 million in the second quarter of 2009.
Gross margin for the second quarter increased to 35% of revenue, up from 27%. For the first half of 2010, gross margin was 35%, up from 28%.
Net income for 2Q 2010 was $5 million, compared to $3 million in 2Q 2009. Net income for the first half of 2010 was $11 million, compared to a loss of $4 million in the first half of 2009.
