Briggs & Stratton, maker of outdoor power equipment and gas engines, will invest $35.5 million to renovate its Murray, KY operations and keep up to 640 jobs at the location.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved Briggs & Stratton for tax incentives up to $15 million over a 10-year period through the Kentucky Reinvestment Act.
The 290,040-sq-ft facility, at 110 Main Street in Murray, is responsible for die casting, machining, and assembly of engines and related components. Briggs & Stratton renovation plans include upgraded tooling, new machinery, and providing expanded workforce skill training.
"This significant economic development project will have a tremendous economic impact on the Murray community and all of Kentucky," said Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear.
