Ariens Gets European Foothold With Latest Acquisition May 27, 2010

The latest acquisition by outdoor power equipment maker Ariens Corp. is British-based Countax Ltd., according to media reports.

Countax makes garden tractors and riding mowers for UK and other European markets.

Ariens, started in 1933 and still run by the Ariens family, is based in Brillion, WI, U.S., and has grown with a number of acquisitions in the last 5 years, starting with the 2006 acquisitions of reel mower maker Locke Turf (Alabama), golf and turf mower OEM National Mower (St. Paul, MN), and the Australian lawn/garden replacements parts group, Bynorm.

In 2007 Ariens acquired the assets of the EverRide and Great Dane brands of commercial mowing equipment from Auburn Consolidated, Inc.

In March 2009 Ariens acquired the Treker line of utility vehicles (UTV) from Land Pride, Division of Great Plains Mfg. Inc. This was followed in the October 2009 by the acquisition of debris maintenance equipment maker Parker Company of Phoenix, AZ.

In January 2010 Ariens acquired the intellectual assets of the Kee Mower brand of high-wheel, walk-behind mowers. Ariens will produce the mowers in its plant in Opp, AL.
