AHRI Annual Report Available May 25, 2010

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute released its annual report for 2009. In the opening statement from Keith E. Coursin, 2009 AHRI Chairman, and Stephen R. Yurek, AHRI President and CEO, they noted that the two-year-old association has become a much stronger organization in the U.S. and globally.

AHRI was formed on January 1, 2008, with the merger of two associations, both several decades old: the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) and the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA). The associations saw the synergies inherent in merging to form a single group serving the manufacturers of all HVAC equipment and their suppliers.

"We are increasingly relied upon by Congress, federal agencies, and the news media as a valued and trusted source of industry information and expertise," Coursin and Yurek wrote. "Some of 2009’s accomplishments included negotiating regional energy efficiency standards; working with Congress on energy legislation, climate change, tax incentives, and other HVACR and water heating initiatives; and continuing our global expansion of AHRI’s standards and certification programs."
